The Kyoto University Gender Equality Promotion Center will provide support for the use of babysitting services in FY 2024 as detailed below. Faculty/staff who received support in FY 2023 are required to reapply for the support for FY 2024. Please submit the application form and other required documents in accordance with the application procedures detailed below.

Support for the Use of Babysitting Services
The Kyoto University Gender Equality Center provides faculty and staff members with support for the use of babysitting services to help them balance the demands of work and child-rearing. The center issues discount vouchers that can be used to help pay for babysitting services provided by eligible babysitting service providers. The following two types of support are available.
① Support for the use of babysitting services
- Persons eligible for the support
University faculty and staff members (including part-time faculty and staff who are members of the MEXT Mutual Aid Association) who are unable to work without the use of babysitting services for reasons such as:
・Their spouse is working or receiving medical treatment, seeking employment, or attending an educational institution
・They are a single parent, etc.
*Faculty/staff who live separately from their children as they work away from home or for other reasons, and who do not personally take care of their children, are not eligible for the support. - Eligible children
Children aged up to the 3rd year of elementary school.
* Children aged up to the 6th year of elementary school may be eligible if they have a physical disability certificate or require care for other health-related reasons. - Amount of discount/maximum number of vouchers that can be used
Amount of discount: 2,200 yen per voucher (One voucher can be used for every 2,200 yen spent, and up to two vouchers can be used per day.)
Maximum number of vouchers that can be used per child: 2 vouchers per day.
Maximum number of vouchers that can be used per month: 24 vouchers per family.
Maximum number of vouchers that can be used per year: 280 vouchers per family.*Please note that the number of vouchers provided may be subject to change depending on budget or other conditions.
*From FY 2023, a limit has been placed on the number of vouchers that can be applied for at one time. Please only apply for the number of vouchers that you plan to use in a one-month period. The Gender Equality Promotion Center may contact you to request the return of vouchers that have not been used for over a month after issue. We ask for your kind understanding this regard.
- Notes:
*Please be sure to read the section below titled “Points to Note regarding the Support” before applying.
- This support applies only to the use of babysitting services at home to enable faculty/staff to fulfill their duties at the university.
- The support cannot be used for days on which the faculty/staff member is not working at the university. Faculty/staff who wish to use this support on weekends are required to submit an attendance record or other document verifying that the day of use is a working day (e.g., a document showing that the procedures to change weekly holidays were completed).
- The support can be used for a babysitting service at the recipient’s home or a drop-off/pick-up service for nursery schools, etc. Please note, however, that it can only be used for transportation between the home and the nursery school, etc., not for transportation between facilities, transportation to cram schools or other types of lessons/training, or transportation that includes children from other households. In addition, it cannot be used for long outings that cannot be considered childcare or childcare at home. In all cases of such use, you must receive the babysitter's childcare record.
- In principle, the support cannot be used while either parent is on prenatal, postnatal, or childcare leave.
② Support for the use of babysitting services (for multiple births)
- Persons eligible for the support
University faculty and staff members (including part-time faculty and staff members who are members of the MEXT Mutual Aid Association) who have multiple-birth children younger than the compulsory school age, and are unable to work without the use of babysitting services for such reasons as:
・Their spouse is working or receiving medical treatment
・They are a single parent, etc.
*Faculty/staff who live separately from their children as they work away from home or for other reasons, and who do not personally take care of their children, are not eligible for the support. - Eligible children
Children under the compulsory school age.
- Amount of discount/maximum number of vouchers that can be used
Amount of discount:
- 9,000 yen per voucher in the case of twins under the compulsory school age.
- 18,000 yen per voucher in the case of triplets or high-order multiples under the compulsory school age.
(One voucher can be used per day for a fee of 2,200 yen or more.)Maximum number of vouchers that can be used per day: 1 voucher per family.
Maximum number of vouchers that can be used per year: 2 vouchers per family.
* Maximum number of vouchers that can be used per year may increase to 4 vouchers per family in the following cases:
・The recipient has three or more children younger than the compulsory school age, including multiple-birth children
・The recipient has a family member who has a physical disability certificate
・The recipient is a single parent, etc.*Please note that the number of vouchers provided may be subject to change depending on budget or other conditions.

- The support can only be used for a babysitting service at the recipient’s home or a drop-off/pick-up service for nursery schools. (The support cannot be used for a babysitting service at a location other than the recipient’s home, such as the babysitter’s home.)
- Parents raising multiple-birth children, including twins, are encouraged to use this support to mitigate fatigue.

Application procedures for first-time applicants
*Faculty/staff who received support last year are required to reapply for the support this year.
*As it will take some time to issue vouchers, please apply well in advance.
- Prior to applying for the support, applicants must conclude a contract in advance with one of the eligible babysitting service providers listed on the website of the All Japan Childcare Services Association (ACSA) below.
“List of eligible babysitting service providers” (the website of ACSA) (Japanese only) - Applicants must submit an application form and the other required documents to the section in charge (see “Submission and inquiries” below). The documents may be submitted via e-mail, except for documents 3) and 4).
1) Application for Support for the Use of Babysitting Services (for first-time applicants)
*Please only apply for the number of discount vouchers that you are certain you will use (max. 12 vouchers).
*Please enter the name of your department in the “Department” field (e.g., Kyoto University Hospital, Graduate School of Engineering, etc.) Please do not enter the name of your division.2) A copy of the service contract with the eligible babysitting service provider
*The name of the contractor in the service contract must be same as the name of the applicant in the application form.
*Please confirm that the following information is included in the contract.
・Babysitting service provider’s address, name, and representative’s name.
・User’s name and address.
・Service details and fees.
・Contract period
・Other necessary information.3) Spouse’s certificate of employment
*If the applicant’s spouse is a faculty or staff member of Kyoto University, it is not necessary to submit the certificate of employment. In this case, please enter the spouse’s department of affiliation and position in the “Remarks” field in 1). If the spouse is a part-time faculty or staff member, please submit a copy of their work schedule.4) A copy of a document that verifies the child’s date of birth and relationship with the applicant (e.g., a residence certificate, mother and child health handbook, etc.)
*If the child is already registered as an eligible dependent of the applicant, it is not necessary to submit the above document.5) Other required documents
*If the applicant’s spouse is receiving medical treatment, please submit a medical certificate, etc. If the applicant’s child has a physical disability certificate, please submit a copy. - Once all required documents are submitted, a URL for electronic discount vouchers will be sent to the applicant via e-mail. Once you have received the e-mail, please tap the URL, scan the QR code provided by the babysitting service provider or enter the 7-digit SP Service ID code, enter the necessary information, confirm the information entered, and click the “Submit (Confirmed)” button to use the service.

“Support for the use of babysitting services” (on the website of ACSA) (Japanese only)
- In the following case, an attendance record or other document verifying that the day of use is a working day (e.g., a document showing that the procedures to change weekly holidays were completed.) must be submitted via e-mail to the section in charge (see “Submission and inquiries” below) by the 5th of the month following the month in which the discount voucher was used.
・If the babysitting service is used on a weekend or public holiday:
Please submit a copy of the attendance record, etc., that verifies that the day of use is a working day (e.g., a copy of a document showing that the procedures to change weekly holidays were completed). Please contact your department’s section in charge of personnel affairs for details of the procedures to change weekly holidays and allocate compensatory holidays, etc.*Note: If an attendance record or other document verifying that the day of use is a working day (e.g., a document showing that the procedures to change weekly holidays were completed) has not been submitted by the deadline, new discount vouchers may not be issued.

1) Request for change of babysitting service provider
*If you wish to request the issue of discount vouchers at the same time as the request for a change of babysitting service provider, please enter the required number of vouchers in the request.
2) A copy of the service contract with the babysitting service provider
*The name of the contractor in the service contract must be same as the name of the applicant in the application form.

Points to Note regarding the Support
- As it takes some time to issue discount vouchers, please apply for the support well in advance.
- Please only apply for the number of discount vouchers you are certain to use in the next two-week period.
- This support applies only to the use of babysitting services at home to enable the applicant to fulfill their duties at the university. The applicant must be a Kyoto University faculty or staff member who is the contractor of a service contract with an eligible babysitting service provider.
- The support cannot be used for days on which the faculty/staff member is not working at the university. Faculty/staff who wish to use this support on weekends or public holidays are required to submit an attendance record or other document verifying that the day of use is a working day (e.g., a copy of a document showing that the procedures to change weekly holidays were completed.)
